Match Report Wednesday 14th October
Sherborne Town FC Reserves 4 - 2 Balti Sports
Dorset Premier League
Sherborne Reserves 4-2 Balti Sports.
Sherborne Town Reserves produced a brilliant display to defeat Balti Sports 4-2 in the Dorset Premier League with goals from Josh Haskett, Tommy Gaylard, Corey Calway and Declan Cornish in a deserved home win.
Sherborne built on last week’s improved league performance at Swanage with a steady start controlling possession and creating the better of the openings against a strong Balti Sports team.
Whilst the better of the play was seen by Sherborne in the first half Balti also had some big opportunities of their own but Sammy Hulland in goal made some great saves throughout and continued his good form from recent games.
Half time was 1-0 to Sherborne following a tidy finish in to the corner by Josh Haskett from the edge of the area.
Second half saw the majority of the goals with Sherborne securing a further three goals from a neat finish by Tommy Gaylard after tidy work and a through ball from Declan Cornish, an unbelievable left foot finish by defender Corey Calway assisted by Alfie Calway, and a penalty won and converted by Declan Cornish ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
The visitors goals threatened to get them back in to the game at 2-1, but Sherborne stepped up their game in a ten minute spell to lead 4-1 before a late consolation to finish the game 4-2.
⚫️ MOTM for the Zebras (a close call between a number of players) was given to Sammy Hulland for an excellent display in goal with quality distribution, taking command of his area and some top saves at key points in the game. Sherborne now travel to Cobham on Saturday looking to put in another strong performance.
