Hamworthy United Reserves 2 - 5 Sherborne Town FC Reserves
Dorset Premier League
HAMWORTHY UNITED RESERVES 2–5 SHERBORNE TOWN RESERVES 🦓⚽
Coming off the back of a defeat and a weekend without a fixture, the young Zebras were eager to get back on the pitch and put things right.
It was a slow start from Sherborne Town, but we managed to take the lead through Danny Dacombe, who reacted quickest to a goalkeeper error before calmly slotting home to make it 1–0.
Despite the early advantage, the Zebras struggled to really push on and Hamworthy found a way back into the game. A defensive error proved costly as the hosts levelled the scores.
With momentum now on their side, Hamworthy completed the turnaround shortly before half-time and the Zebras headed into the break 2–1 down.
HT: Hamworthy United Reserves 2–1 Sherborne Town Reserves
A very open and honest conversation from the management was had at half-time and certainly had the desired effect.
Sherborne came flying out of the blocks after the restart with a point to prove. Within minutes, we were back on level terms through Corey Calway, and from there on, we never looked back.
A second-half domination from the young Zebras saw Sherborne take complete control, racing into a 3–2 lead thanks to Duncan McCabe, 4–2 via Corey Calway with his second of the game the best to last Danny Dacombe with his second of the match with a superb finish making it a well deserved 5–2 lead.
There were plenty more clear-cut chances to make the scoreline even more convincing, but five goals were enough to secure an emphatic victory and a brilliant response from the lads.
A huge second-half performance and exactly the reaction we were looking for. 🦓💪
