Match Report Monday 21st September
Frome Town 1 - 4 Sherborne Town FC U18
Western Counties Floodlight Youth League
Sherborne U18s 4–1 Frome Town
The boys were away to Frome Town on Monday night for a local derby, with several of the players attending college together adding a little extra spice to the occasion.
From the opening whistle, the Young Zebras dominated proceedings and started brightly. Bertie worked hard to win a penalty, which Tommy calmly slotted home to give Sherborne an early 1–0 lead.
Frome responded and an error at the back gave the hosts an opportunity to equalise, which they took. The goal briefly put the Young Zebras on the back foot, but they soon regained their composure and continued to create chances.
Sherborne regained control before half-time, with Tommy finding the net again to restore the lead and make it 2–1 at the break.
The second half certainly had the feel of a derby, with some strong challenges flying in from both sides as the intensity increased. The Young Zebras continued to take control of the game, however, and their pressure eventually paid off.
Tommy completed his hat-trick to make it seven goals in just two games, before Raff added a fourth to seal an impressive 4–1 victory for Sherborne.
Manager Tim was delighted with the performance after the game, praising the boys for the way they played and their dominance for large periods of the match.
A special mention goes to Tommy, who was deservedly named Man of the Match after his superb hat-trick.
Final score: Frome Town 1–4 Sherborne U18s
