First Home Game of the Season
The Under 18s played out a thrilling 4–4 draw against Wellington in their first home game of the season, in what was a hugely entertaining match for everyone watching.
Sherborne found themselves 0–1 down inside the opening five minutes, but the early setback certainly woke the boys up. Striker Ashton Selway took centre stage, producing a fantastic first-half hat-trick in just 11 minutes to turn the game around.
With both sides continuing to attack, Wellington managed to find the net again, leaving the score level at 3–3 at half-time.
The boys came out strongly in the second half and continued to put pressure on Wellington, but despite creating opportunities, they couldn't take full advantage. Wellington then edged in front to make it 3–4.
Sherborne refused to give up and kept pushing for an equaliser. Their persistence eventually paid off, with Bertie Grapes finding the crucial goal to bring the scores level at 4–4.
The final whistle brought an end to a fantastic game of football, with both teams contributing to a highly entertaining contest. Plenty of positives for the boys to take from their first home fixture of the season.
Next Up: The Under 18s travel to Ilminster Football Club on Monday, 14 September, with a 7:30pm kick-off.
